"Creating environments for change"

MEETING FACILITATION

KJ Peterson Consulting's (KJPC) principal consultant, Kathy Peterson, is a professionally trained facilitator, with more than 25 years of experience in providing facilitation services to federal government agencies and their partners. Our company provides a full range of meeting design and facilitation services.

Our clients rely on KJPC to develop and implement purpose-driven agendas guaranteed to result in meaningful and effective meetings. Our approach to successful meeting facilitation is built around first establishing a clear understanding and strategic assessment of each client's vision, mission, values, and goals for their organization; we see each facilitated meeting as an opportunity to intentionally enable our clients to take a step forward to achieve their organization's long-term objectives.

In premeeting agenda-development consultations, our facilitator works with each client to review and understand the context of their meeting; to assess key stakeholder interests, concerns, and goals; to determine topics and desired outcomes; and to decide on a framework for collaboratively working through the topics to successfully engage meeting participants and achieve desired outcomes.

The role of our facilitator during a meeting is to create a safe, positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment in which meeting participants are able to effectively focus on the topics and desired outcomes that have been thoughtfully crafted and included in the agenda. During collaborative problem-solving discussions, our facilitator navigates the flow of the meeting, monitors "air time," and identifies areas of agreement to construct consensus and a path forward. At the meeting conclusion, the facilitator summarizes key points, and restates any commitments, decisions, and next steps necessary to provide our client with a clear and tangible action plan.
